Decking
In decking applications, the warm, authentic beauty of wood and all-weather performance are important. The wood must be dimensionally stable so it does not twist, bow, cup, shrink or swell. And it must be durable. Accoya® wood meets these demands by delivering performance characteristics that better even the most desirable tropical hardwoods, making Accoya wood the ideal material for decks.
Decks are typically exposed to the harshest conditions: direct sunlight, saltwater marinas, chlorinated pools and environments where temperature and humidity widely vary throughout the seasons. These conditions are perfectly suited for Accoya wood. Many decks are shaded by trees and constantly exposed to fallen leaves and other natural organic matter that, unless removed in a timely manner, will begin to rot. Accoya wood acts as an effective barrier against a broad spectrum of fungi including cellar, wet rot, dry rot, soft rot, white, brown and pore.
Accoya wood does not absorb heat like PVC or wood / plastic composite decking and can be walked on barefoot during the summer months. It can be left to naturally grey or can be coated with transparent, translucent or opaque coatings that often last three to five times longer than unmodified wood.
